RestoRANT, Katre

Since I live just near the areas of Timog and Tomas Morato, which is the north's premier restaurant strip, I get to try out a lot of restaurants. If you're looking for a good mediterranean fusion restaurant, you might want to check out Katre. Katre is located at Dr. Lazcano St., Tomas Morato. The place is a refurbished white space, with modern minimalist approach interior. They have country and native furniture here and there, with wooden floorboards and flowers and candles strewn on the tables. They use linen napkins, tablecloths, and chilled glasses, definitely fine dining. Expect to shell out around P500-P1,000 for a main course but you won't be disappointed because the quality of the food is great. People would at first think that this is a restaurant where you couldn't dress down and just let down their hair down naturally especially with the price of the food they serve, but seeing the calm atmosphere of the restaurant will make up for it. Katre can be associated with the very iconic and powerful Lady Gaga, who always seems to be very well kept and beautiful just like the restaurant. The well-lit all white interiors gives a feeling of pleasantness and at the same time isolation to its customers that makes it unique. Katre's food is unique too, it's mediterranean food fused with filipino sensibilities. Their best-sellers include Angus Rib Eye, Pasta Ala Catre and Roast Chicken w/Pasta. Another specialty in the house was its Seafood Pasta that fuses the different seasoning such as the red pepper, tomato and olive oil that teases a person’s taste, making the food somehow mysterious and leaving the person in trance of wondering as to what it really taste like. It was I guess neutralized by the citrus flavor of lemon, which again reminds me of Lady Gaga, Lady Gaga and Katre have this commonality, which is that uniqueness and poshness. Oh I just love Katre! And Lady Gaga too! Pardon me for mentioning Lady Gaga over and over, because i'm actually listening to Lady Gaga's Poker Face right now so I can't seem to get her out of my head. Haha:D Anyway, another yummy dish that I have tried at Katre is the mediterranean inspired steamed white pampret fish that is savored with rum. It's another yummy and unique treat that you can have only in Katre. Katre is definitely a fine dining restaurant that can be compared to other good posh and fashionably restaurants that serves Mediterranean Cuisine in the metro. Geez, just blogging about Katre makes me so hungry!
